I agree with Acee (for once) and think the writing is on the wall regarding Merriman's future with the Chargers after 09

It is not over for Merrimen just yet.. Think of his injury as a reason to want to keep a guy like tucker.. Considering the circumstances, we got him for a good deal and is most likely an insurance policy if Merrimen does leave, but not because he is leaving..

We will all see how much Merrimen means to this team when he is out for the season.. I am happy we locked up tucker but it does not mean much when it comes to Merrimen's future here with the chargers.. I mean Castillo called Merrimen the best LBer to ever play, thats got to mean something

"Tucker okay

What started out to be a great day for Jyles Tucker appeared for a moment to have gone wrong Monday night. Hours after signing a new five-year contract, Tucker had to leave the field after injuring his ankle. Fortunately, it appears Tucker will be fine.

“Jyles is alright,” Turner said. “He got rolled up on late. Obviously they called a penalty on it but he’s okay.”

Tucker finished the night with five tackles, second most among Chargers defenders."
