Official Chargers Forum Rules
These rules may be a bit more stringent than the rules of other forums you've used. We did that so that all Charger fans can enjoy the forum - not just a few. We hope to have a forum where women and children won't be offended. Please accept these rules with that good intention.
While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate invective (abusive speech) and/or harassment, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts, or posting mis-information in the title of a thread . Our decision is final in these matters.
Name-calling is invective. Deriding an opinion is not. You may attack an opinion as idiotic, but you may not call a member an idiot. There's a difference. One is meant to attack an opinion, the other attacks the member himself. HOWEVER, IF YOU RESPOND TO INVECTIVE WITH INVECTIVE, YOU LOSE YOUR RIGHT TO SEEK MODERATOR INTERVENTION.
This forum is equipped with a word censor. If the censor replaces your word with ***, please do not type around the censor by using dollar signs for an S or any similar method. The use of terms like 'F'in', OMFG, 'F' this, or other abbreviations is considered just another form of avoiding the censor.
Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts.
If you inadvertently double post, please take a moment to delete the extra post by clicking on "Edit".
Fans of the other team are not welcome in our "game day" threads - it's hard enough to keep the peace between the Charger fans during a game. Go away during the game, come back after the game.
Product advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members. If you receive PM spam, please email it to email@example.com
We also do not allow posts regarding sexual orientation, or that contain sexual lewdness or vulgarities in nature, or contain messages calling for injury to players or members, or advocate illegal activity. The Chargers.com team shall be the sole mediator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
While we expect to have some criticism of the Chargers, we will not tolerate blatant attacks towards these individuals. You may attack the actions or decisions of individuals, but do not attack the individuals themselves. We will not tolerate invective or vitriol, or anything we believe crosses the line between criticism and abusive language. The Ownership, Coaching, Player, and Staff, should be accorded the same respect that the posters on the forum are accorded - nothing more, but nothing less. You may attack the actions or decisions of individuals, but do not attack the individuals themselves.
To avoid arguments, no Politics unless the politics are directly related to the Chargers. No Religious discussions. This forum is about the San Diego Chargers, not about the political parties, individual politicians, or religious affiliation. We reserve the right to remove posts we deem offensive without notice. Any topics/posts of these types will be deleted.
On line TYPING IN ALL CAPS is considered shouting and is frowned on in most cases. Excessive shouting will be deleted. Repeated offenses could lead to being banned from the forum.
Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
When you start a new thread, please think about which area the thread you are about to start actually belongs in. It seems most people tend to place threads in the General Discussions (GD) forum. However, with a forum this large we may find it necessary to move the thread to another sub-forum to help keep the GD from getting overly cluttered. If this is done we will leave a link to the new location. It will be our sole discretion if we choose to move a thread. Remember that every thread added will force another thread off of page one and they tend to be forgotten after they leave page one.
One of the goals of moderators is to prevent the board from being cluttered by repetitive threads. If you create a thread on a topic that is already being discussed in another current thread, it is likely your thread will be merged with the older thread. This may create the appearance your thread was deleted. Unfortunately, vBulletin does not provide a way to automatically link you to where your thread was merged. If your thread has vanished and was not in violation of forum rules, look for a longer thread with the same subject matter. It's likely you'll find your posts there. You can also locate it by clicking on the post in your own file of posts by clicking on your name and clicking on "Find all posts".
We reserve the right to remove posts which are in violation of forum rules without notice.
We also reserve the right to take punitive action, up to and including permanent suspension of account, against any member who does not abide by the forum rules. While suspension is a last-resort for members we deem are refusing to abide by the rules, we reserve the right to suspend trolls or new members without warning if we believe their intent is to troll or in some other way willfully break forum rules.
Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time, without notice. Any and all rule changes will be posted, and all members are expected to abide by any and all rule-changes from the moment those rule-changes are posted. It is the responsibility of the member to read announcements and abide by the forum rules. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for breaking them."
Any topics/posts of these types will be deleted:
Advertising or Spamming
We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products or services. Explicit advertising of products or advertising other Chargers forums is prohibited. Links in signatures must follow these guidelines:
All signatures must be in good taste and not impede the flow of the forums. If your signature is too large we may remove it without notice. Animated images in Signatures are not allowed. Advertising in Signatures is also prohibited. (See Advertising and Spamming) 1 image up to 450 pixels wide, 200 pixels tall. Animated images in Signatures are not allowed.
Smack Shack Forum Rules:
The place to talk smack. Mix it up with fans from other teams in here. Due to the nature of smack we may allow topic and discussion that would normally be removed in other parts of the forum. If you’re easily offended you may want to ignore this forum.
If you’re visiting this forum and you have an affinity for a team other then the San Diego Chargers and you post the sort of 'ooh look at me, your team sucks' threads. You run the risk of your post being deleted. Smack talk is fine however we will not tolerate insulting posts just for the sake of being insulting. The bottom line is if you act juvenile we don’t want you around. Remember this is a Chargers forum and if your not a fan of our team we may not extend the same leniency we give to our own fans.

Some rules that are specific to the Gameday thread:
Fans of opposing teams are NOT allowed to post in the Gameday thread.
Do NOT post links (or ask for links) to illegal internet streams of copyrighted NFL games.
Please do NOT post gifs in the gameday thread. It slows down the thread for people without high speed broadband. Also, moderators don't have time during a game to check content of videos.
Do NOT start new threads during the game. New threads will be closed if you start one. All comments should go into the gameday thread. Posting in existing threads is allowed, but if they get to be a bashfest, or if it becomes a high posting thread requiring moderator attention, those threads will be temporarily closed.
