I'm just glad that that Upshaw is losing steam. I really don't like his potential. Jones at least has a pretty high ceiling.

The biggest problem with him is he lacks speed and short area quickness to be consistently successful in the NFL. When you look at him run the thing that stands out is his stride. He's a long strider without a top end burst. He relied upon strength and technique to be successful at Syracuse. He doesn't have the explosion off the snap to ever be an elite pass rusher.

He shows stiffness in his play that would translate into issues with him in pass coverage. He would never be the kind of OLB you want as a starter. He has good vision which allowed him to follow the play and anticipate it. But the "losing focus" mentioned by another poster is his inability to react quick enough if he loses vision on the play.

All the better evaluators all talk about his potential, but as a 4-3 DE. But no one except Kiper is talking about him as a OLB. He has the build for it but there are too many other players better then Jones to waste a first round pick that high on him.

I see him as a 2nd to 3rd rounder at best. I wouldn't dismiss his knee injury either since he is only one year removed from it. He might be fine if you are looking at him as a rotational depth type of player but a big risk as a possible OLB starter.

McClellin is a much better pass rusher than this guy and Shea has proven he can play OLB whereas this guy might not be able to.

Workouts mean nothing if it doesn't translate into play that you can see on film.

Glad to see that Mike has climbed aboard the Chandler Choo-choo. We'll be pulling out of the station in about 13 days and a half days.

Not really sure what to make of Mayock this year. He has been all over the place. First Poe is the best DT in this class after a combine, now Shea is a mid first rounder.

Didn't Chandler Jones post like a 4.87 40 time or something like that? I doubt he's got the short area burst/movement of a Vinny Curry to offset that slow speed.

What's funny is that Curry posted a 4.99

Don't get too wrapped up with 40 times for D-line. They can be an indicator of athleticism, but little else. Be more concerned about 3 cone and 10 yard splits!
