Best draft since 2005??

He has the physical tools to look a lot more than ordinary. He was on a crap team and could have just been poorly coached, unmotivated, who knows. Dontari Poe looked ordinary in college and it didn't stop the Chiefs from taking him #11, they obviously don't think he will "certainly struggle."

Our offense will have a completely different look to it this year, Gates, Floyd, Mech, Royal, Brown and Green. Size, speed, more size more speed.

Green's number are pretty unusual. 6-6, 238lbs, 4.49 40 speed, 35" vertical, 82" wingspan, 10" hands. He caught a lot of balls in college when he had a mediocre QB and he was the primary receiver, everyone schemed against him. He's in a great spot in SD.

Let's at least draw some crazy parallelism between the two drafts.

Both drafts

• First pick was a pass-rusher, second pick was a defensive lineman
• Include a tall receiver type who was/is extremely raw
• Include a Center pick in the 7th round

Yeah if you show someone his game tape without telling them he's a TE, chances are they'd be fooled into thinking he's a tall WR in the slot.

We're probably not going to use dual TE sets like the way the Pats do out of necessity. At the end of the day good hybrid TEs present matchup problems. Green could give us another weapon for defenses to think about.

Good draft/odd draft. Traded away all of the 6th round picks got a gimpy OG and a gimpy C. Good but odd.

What do you mean all of the 6th round picks? We only had one and traded that away to move up in the 3rd round to get a safety we needed.
The gimpy OG came in the 5th and had nothing to do with our 6th rounder. The 7th round guy was one of the best centers in the NCAA, definitely worth the risk. The RB who knows and who cares, 7th round comp picks rarely make the team.

Yea at first when I looked at him I saw he played the majority of his games so it didn't seem like a big deal

2008: started all 12 games at center, injured toe at the end of nov 8 game, came back fine the next week
2009: started first 3 games, tore a tendon in his right foot during pregame warmups, missed 4 games, came back and injured his right knee on the first series.....I suspect rehabbing the foot might have made him susceptible to other injuries, just a guess though
2010: started all 13 games at center
2011: started in all 12 regular season games, hurt his foot again on first series in sugar bowl, but played through it and they won

So he only missed 9 out of 50+ games. But when you look closer he's had 5 surgeries, and I'd be concerned about his foot.
