I wonder if Elway is going for a total power grab and will either

1 - Become GM
2 - Appoint an empty suit to do it on his behalf.

But as he begins his second season as the man in charge, Elway has begun to exercise his authority. His biggest moves seemingly have been made with the idea of streamlining the Broncos' football operations. He promoted Matt Russell from director of college scouting to director of player personnel which means he now oversees talent both on the NFL and college level.

Elway also hired former agent Mike Sullivan to become the team's new man in charge of contract negotiations and the salary cap.

"It is a streamline; we're not adding anybody," Elway said.

Not surprised. Xanders didn't seem like that great of a GM, from the outside looking in anyways.

Hopefully Elway makes a bad hire

Xanders was an empty suit. He just wasn't Elway's guy. 4 years as GM and he had 3 different guys making the football decisions for him.
