Why is everyone so down on Whitehurst? Sure he hasn't looked great but he's been able to step in when needed, and win to get a marginally talented team into the playoffs. We've been lucky to have Volek for this long but that's all you can really ask for in a backup QB.

He's only started 4 games in his career, for a pretty crappy team, and never more than two in a row. That's "time and time again"? One of which was a Sunday night game in Week 17 where he went out and won the division for his team. There was a time when Drew Brees sucked just as bad here, and he figured it out for himself. Will Clipboard Jesus be another Brees? Probably not, but I think he will do just fine as a backup.
