As to the wins/losses, and that replies that they are not important --- that was in response to the original question: "think their fans are clamoring for the qb's to be benched" -- If that is the question, WHICH IT WAS -- then yes, the fact that those teams are winning is huge in answering the question.

Points scored in the first three quarters count exactly the same as points scored in the fourth quarter. Segregating 4th quarter statistics is.... completely useless. It has value only to sports writers who need to sell stories that fall in line with classic arcs.

Passing ratings don't mean much if the teams record is only 4-4. Both the Bears and Giants are better than our Chargers.

The point is that performance wise Rivers is playing in the same ball park as Eli and Cutler, and is getting scapegoated for the Chargers woes. Meanwhile those quarterbacks are viewed differently despite the fact that their teams relative success (compared to the chargers... though the giants only have one more win) has little to do with a difference in the quarterback play.

i'd put the stat sheet down if i were you and use your eyeballs...

i've been watching PR for years and he clearly isn't the same as from a couple years ago... his arm strength seems to be lacking among other things...

Alex Smith is the 4th highest rated passer in the game... is he the 4th best qb in the league?... heck is he even 10th best?...

when using my eyeballs i can see that Eli is playing better than PR right now...

it doesnt mean it will continue that way, only half the season has been played so far...
