Sounds really good. Advice -- keep it to yourself (don't know how much you talk to your colleagues). And don't expect anything to happen real fast. But clearly you've caught his attention in a good way.

Seriously .... I had a General do something similar one time, but I knew the reason why, but the Battalion commander and other staff didn't. I didn't say why either, except to a couple E-7's ..... we enjoyed a laugh watching the senior staff wonder why.

Found my married XO wandering down the street, drunk, disheveled, lost, leaving a house of ill repute in a far away land once.

Got him sobered up, made sure he got his wits back about him, and got him back to the ship with no one the wiser. After listening to his blubbering confession about how he had betrayed his wife.

Couldn't stand the guy, but couldn't leave a shipmate in that condition, either. LCDR Howell, if you're reading this, you still owe me.

I never failed an inspection from that point forward, and got 2 extra days liberty in Thailand.
