But Bolted, you don't think the NFL could tell it's reffing crews to help sway games towards one line or the other? The NFL was very fun to watch when the replacements were in there and the Brees, Rodgers, Mannings weren't getting special treatment or perfectl timed penlaties to keep their drives alive.

It's also not against the law for them to sway their games one way or another. Afterall, "We sell fantasy."

That's kind of besides the point.

Chargers are consistently in position where those calls can have too big of an effect.

It's nice to think there's a conspiracy theory behind it all because it takes away the sting of watching the team find yet another way to blow it. We invest so much of our mental energy into wanting them to win, and we don't want to admit that energy is wasted. (not saying you specifically, just speaking generally).

It's unfortunate. Rather than uselessly debate what call another team would have theoretically gotten (something that can never be proven one way or the other), I'd rather imagine a scenario in which the game wasn't decided on that one play.

I still love the game and get hyped up for Sundays. Just more and more when I watch around the NFL, most the time it looks perfectly set up for a good story. I don't see the players doing things, just the refs subtly. I love when in the past this team overcame crappy, crappy officiating. They aren't good enough anymore to do that, but the crappy efficiating still ticks me off.

That's what I'm saying. Even you just said "I don't see the players doing anything, just the refs". In order for the refs to be in a position to make a call that has that much of an impact on the game, soooo many things have to line up perfectly before that. The odds are astronomical.

Now, if you're saying "hey, if you get a chance, and it's ambiguous, go ahead and call it this way", I mean a case could be made. But those situations are so few and far between. They just happen to be occurring with alarming frequently to the Chargers. But the fact is, there's so many things that have to happen just right to get to that point, its infeasible.

It seems a lot of teams are put in these positions. Gets good ratings, lots of water cooler talk etc. Seems obvious to me the games are manipulated to be close games. It only has to be taken one step further to manipulate the outcomes.

Now honestly, i figured the chargers were gold today with the steelers losing and the ravens playing them next week and a charger win adds another team to the wildcard chase, but i guess i was wrong.

Theres just no real plausible way that the refs blew that call after looking at it on replay...how does that even happen?

so that explains the domination of popularity the NFL has enjoyed over the last...say 10 or so, years. it's so obvious, it's really obvious!!
