Default Alex Smith

19-5-1 in the last 2 season (3rd best in NFL). WTH is going on in San Francisco and what happens with Alex at the end of the season? Some team is about to come up.

I'd trade Whitehurst, and take Smith in a second.

With our emerging defense, I'd give Smith a try for sure.

I like Smith. Kaepernick definitely should have got the job earlier. I knew it was a matter of time til this happened

I agree. Get Smith. Although I think the Jets or some team like that will go after him.

Smith is textbook example of why watching the games sometimes is better then looking at stats.

He is a limited passer and rarely pulls the trigger on throws. Harbaugh knows this and that is the reason why Kap replaced him, he expands the passing game and is more willing to make tougher throws.

true that, but at least he hasn't led the league in interceptions for the 2nd consecutive year in a row. at this point I am thinking any average QB would be an upgrade.

His low interceptions total is due to the type of offense they run, last year SF had the lowest amount of pass attempts in the league and this year I think they were on pace to repeat that.

Rivers and Smith aren't even comparable in terms of arm talent. I would much rather have the guy who can make stick throws into tight windows then the guy who won't.

This is true. That's why I said "with our emerging defense." I think our Def is only going to get better, and hope it will even be a powerhouse. If that's the case, I wouldn't mind at all having a really good game manager QB, who makes limited mistakes, run a more conservative offense. And Smith does do that very, very well.

Perhaps he'll give us a hometown discount?

I remember when it looked like he was on the way out in SF, I was pretty sure he'd end up here riding pine. Funny how things work out.
