So overall, the offense has been great (just not this year). But 4th quarter close game offense, terrible.

Could be norv, he has the 2nd worst one score game record in NFL history behind vermeil. Could be Rivers, he seems out of sorts in these situations since the jets playoff game in 2009. Probably a combination of the 2 of them.
we used to have an effective offense between the 20's. The red zone has been middle of the pack since Norv got here.

I wouldn't call it great. We built up good stats in blow outs but as you note we're horrible in close games and the anti-clutch if there ever was one.

NOt sure if he was right but on the radio they said Rivers is 0 of his last 13 on 4th quarter drives to win the game. I guess now he is 0-14. NOT a good stat. This year we have let many teams come back on us and still we had one drive, usually all timeouts, to possibly tie/win and we haven't converted once.

Updated stats through Texans game

Rivers updated 4th quarter stats in a tie game or down by 8 points or less (1 score). Since 2010

Comp-103
Att -187
Yards -1031
TD- 3
INT- 12
Sacks - 14
Fumbles - 8
Fumbles lost - 5

Since his last 4th quarter comeback (2011 opener against minnesota) he is
59-116 517 yards 0 TD 9 INTs 10 sacks 6 fumbles 4 lost and a 30.71 passer rating.

in the last 3 years we have had 44 drives where we had a chance to tie or take the lead in a game in the 4th quarter or OT. we have taken the lead 2 times (minnesota 2011, houston 2010) and tied the game 3 times (seattle 2010, KC 2011 halloween game, minnesota 2011.) we have scored a grand total of 34 points on those 44 drives and have won 2 games while losing 18.

we have committed 18 turnovers (Rivers 12 ints, 5 fumbles, tolbert 1 fumble) and have missed 3 field goals by 3 different kickers (49 yarder blocked-kaeding, 50 yarder-Brown and 53 yarder-Novak).

Conclusion: the chargers cannot win in the clutch (if there is such a thing).

At least you're consistent (win or lose).

I'm interested to see what the end result will be in ***2013***, only, for these stats under the new regime.

Fairly easy to do. Break down the norv Marty and McCoy eras of clutch play. Hoping it won't look good for norv.

Rivers has already led the chargers to 13 more points and 3 more successful drives than all of last year so, so far so good.

He's 1-1 in the 4th Q with MM.
Pretty sure he was good under Marty, but only one year.
Last three years under Norv, dreadful.
