In ESPN Magazine.
Matt Ryan talks about QB in the NFL. He says; -First and foremost you have to be a sound decision maker. -Balance being aggressive and knowing when to pull back. -The art of QB is knowing when to take chances but also when to put the reins on it. When looking at his previous year to improve He said; -He had a number of turnover on drive before half. -That teams scoring before the half have a correlation to winning. -This year he is better at the half, more accurate and smart, not turning it over in those situations. And he says the biggest thing is make plays when they present themselves. When you have an opportunity to make plays in red zone and on 3rd down, you have to make plays. Basically playing fundamentally sound football. I wonder why Rivers said he is not going to play careful at the beginning of this terrible 1-7 slump, then he proceeded to throw the ball into dangerous situations over and over again. Its like he doesn't know when to pull it back.

It is. It is spot on, IMO.
When it comes to QB, it's too easy to focus on physical attributes. That's because it's HARD to read decision making, until you've actually thrown a guy into the fire in the NFL for an extended period of time. Reminds me of baseball. Greg Maddux said the single most important attribute for a pitcher was "movement". Does his ball move? More than velocity, number of pitches, or even location. It's good to hear from the guys who know what they are talking about as to what is, and is not, important for a particular position.
