I think NASA just said like 2 days ago that there wouldn't be any cosmic events on December 21, 2012 that could end the world, "or at any point in 2012."

Maybe Jan. 1?


Also just out of curiousity, Dec. 21 for whom? Honolulu or Sydney?

there are some intersting planetary lineups around the 21st until the end of the year but nothing that doesnt happen at other times of the year

there are a couple of asteroids that will make close flybys next year.

2012 DA14 will flyby about 2/15 at only 0.09 light days away from earth but its "just" 57 meters wide.

the other one is quite a bit bigger but will be much farther away and should put on a nice show as it should be fairly bright in the late spring.

I get email alerts from NASA when the space station will be visible from our house. We've went out and checked it out twice. Pretty cool to see.

They have a website you can sign up at, and they'll notify you when it's going to be going past your place. If anyone wants it, I'll post it up.
