Tracy Porter is a downgrade from Cason. He can't even win his starting job back from Chris Harris right now.

Chris Harris has been playing well though. Porter would have to be a really crappy player to be a downgrade from Cason.

That's what I would have said a few weeks ago, but Cason has really flipped the switch. He's been outstanding about the last few weeks. Not saying he should or shouldn't be resigned (the inconsistency is still a concern), but he has definitely been better lately than what Porter has been at about any point this season.

Exactly. If we bring him back, I'll hope that he picks up where he left off, but this is two seasons in a row now when he was garbage when it counted and played lights out when it didn't matter any more. I've thought for a while now that he's mentally weak.

Anyone know much about Phil Loadholt? Also a FA, might be a good pick up. Also, Chris Houston at CB another player we could look at.

He is a RT I would have over Clary.

Excellent run blocker, inconsistent in pass protection. Likely to stay in Minnesota. He's a big part of their AP-led offense so I expect they'll pay him. Would be an upgrade for us certainly. I think Gosder Cherilus is more likely to be available, will come cheaper, and should be a better fit because he's a better pass protector.

The more I consider free agency and the draft, the more I like this plan. I'd love to sign a quality free agent to man the Left Tackle position (if Gaither can't go or is released) or a veteran corner (if Gaither is allowed to remain). If Gaither is retained, we probably need to acquire some insurance for the OLT position. Then acquire a badass OLB in the first round of the draft. Maybe go back to the O-line in the second round.
