I don't think Pagano would leave. He's been with the Chargers for a long time, and finally has control of the defense, after working in the DC's shadow for too long.

I think he'll stay, if given the chance, and continue to develop and improve the defense.

At least, that's what I hope will happen.

Speculation on nfl.com that Rivera might be fired from Carolina. If that happens, could we bring him back here as DC and promote Pagano?

if that happens, we fire Pagano and Promote Rivera.
Or, we push Pagano UP the organizational chain and make him Asst HC.

IMHO,the only way we lose pagano is if one of the 2 top tier DC's (Wade or Ron) want to return to SD. If not, Pagano won't get much attention. He's a one year upstart and hasn't shown ENOUGH to warrant another team to take a chance.

If the new HC insists in bringing in their own DC, then Pagano could easily be a goner. Ditto with every other assistant coach.

Every year playoff teams lose OCs and DCs when their teams get bounced in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs. Watch for Mike Zimmer (Bengals DC), Vic Fangio (49ers DC), Gus Bradley (Seahawks DC), Greg Roman (49ers OC), Com Capers (Packers DC) and Bruce Arians (Colts OC) to get HC interviews around the league should their teams get bounced early.

Mike McCoy and Kyle Shanahan could emerge as surprise candidates as well. All the speculation and craziness begins Monday.

The DL has been a major improvement. I love Garay... but he aged quickly. Franklin has the risk of doing the same.

If Garay will take a cheap deal I'd like to have him back but I don't see it happenig at his price right now.

Our D gave up 21 pts to Oakland who was starting a 2nd year Terrelle Pryor for the first time.

Our pass rush other than the game vs the Jets has been pretty bad. Our secondary is beyond awful. Other than Weddle, nobody in the secondary would start on a playoff team.
