Are there any good CB's out in FA this off season? It's a pretty important need for us. I was hoping Wright would step up but with injuries it sort of hampered that a bit. Cason can be very hot and cold. I really wanted us to get Finnegan last off season. He's a jerk on the field but we need players like that.

Brent Grimes is good but hes 30, and Derek Cox is great but gets hurt alot. I like Wright but he seems to be injured alot and doesnt play often. Gilchrist should start next year along Wright/Draft Pick maybe. Cason is to inconsistent.

Rivers is safe even if we end up drafting a QB for a few years from now. Its my bet Rivers comes out of his funk with a new coach -and O line-.

I kinda miss Norv already. For all the hate he got on this forum, this was his first losing season as hc. Developed Rivers into an elite QB (maybe?). We had some good times the last few years.

yep- and is clearly at least a full step slow. I think he could still be a darn good CB in some systems, but not in systems like the 3-4 where a traditional cover 2 or cover 1 system is utilized. He just doesn't have the top end to keep up on routes past 10-12 yards.

I dunno. Seems to be the logical move for a CB with declining physical skills and it would eliminate for Jammer the thing that he's always struggled with- not seeing the ball. That being said, playing S is incredibly tough in terms of zone responsibilities, football instincts/IQ, etc. The S really is the QB on defense and Norv has never been shy at saying he didn't see Jammer at safety. Perhaps he doesn't think Jammer has the instincts to play back there. Having played that position (albiet at a MUCH lower level), I can tell you that it's all about film study, pre-snap recognition, but then intuition and instinct at the snap of the bal. We suffered through 20+ years of horrid safety play and always seeing guys a half-step slow to the ball, despite having the physical tools to play the position.
