Default Ray Lewis to retire

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/88...etiring-season

He's an all-time great. Even though this play sucked, I have nothing but respect for the guy.

Originally I was hoping the Ravens wouldn't win this year because I absolutely despise Flacco but if this is the case.. Ray deserves one more ring.

This is a day that I was hoping wasnt going to come for a few more years. He will be missed. One of the best if not the best LB of all time. The Ravens wont be the same without him, the league wont be the same without him either

Finally. I'm glad he's leaving. It's time for him to leave football behind and focus on the next part of his life. He's a gifted person and I'd hate to see him become that guy that can't let the game go on his own terms.

I agree with that except for the fact that I believe that he can still play for a few more years at this level he is playing at

He was still performing at a high level the past few years even when some thought he was done dude was unreal. What made him a great is that he was a true leader. Forget the introduction antics or the pre-game huddle routine, when he talked you listened and he would go to war for all 11 men on his defense.

We had that in Junior Seau and have been looking for that type of leader on the field ever since.

This was definitely a motivational announcement for his team to step up and get him to the super bowl one more time, but I agree with his decision and he's doing it for the right reasons.
1st ballot hall of famer, one of the smartest, hard hitting, driven, dominating LB's in NFL history.

The one part of sports that sucks...all great must go at one point or another. Thanks Ray for an amazing 17 years

Probably my all-time fave non-Charger! I've been debating which bandwagon to jump on for the playoffs. I think I just made up my mind. Go Ray-vens!

Yeah Ray Lewis is the only player I like on the Ravens. The only reason to want the Ravens to win.
