Free Agents - Who stays, Who goes?

Cason is a big question mark because he is a FA and not a spectacular player. Big decision there.

Vasquez: we probably have to make an earnest effort at re-signing him as we're awfully thin at O line as it is.

Right you are. My apologies. I think I just saw a post suggesting that we would keep Cason and Clary and got venemous .

I would cut Clary and sign Gosder Cherilus. He's younger, much better in pass protection, and should be cheaper (or at least as cheap) than what Clary is due to cost us over 2013-14.

I would allow Cason to leave and spend the money saved on him and Jammer on Derek Cox, a much better corner. Wright has shown me enough to start and we can draft depth in the 2nd-4th (deep corner class).

I would be happy to resign Vasquez as I think he's an above average player.

Vasquez had one of his best seasons so far. He's unfortunately the guys to the left and right had their worst. Definitely the Chargers should sign him to a long term contract. Hardwick could possibly retire, and Clary is good as gone. Still unsure about Greene. But I would keep for depth purposes. Man this Oline is cut like swiss cheese.

Just looked up Clary's contract. We could take as high as a $1.7M cap hit against Clary if we cut him. Depends on how we are treating his initial signing bonus. His salary is $4M next year. If we can sign Cherilus for $4M I'd go for Kemp's idea.

We have a real dilema at CB though. If we lose Cason and Jammer we'd be entering 2013 with potentially no experience to speak of at CB. FA is a crap shoot because guys will go to the highest bidder. Don't feel comfortable with the situation at CB.

I didn't realize there were so many quality CBs on the market.

I really like DRC. He was pretty good in Arizona before being awful in Philadelphia. But everyone was awful in Philadelphia. Shouldn't be too expensive because of his poor play there.

I like our chances of getting a decent CB in Free Agency to play across from Wright.
