Out of 5 team not including the Charger because they just fired him the Jet were the only one interested. That tells you what type of GM Smith is and no owner would want a GM who's a jerk to his players and to the media.

Anyway, we all know, as reported by numerous CMB members, that AJ Smith has his pick of whatever NFL GM job he wants. Clearly he's just being selective about who he interviews with. That is the reason he hasn't been hired, not because no one wants him.

It is all a ploy by the Lord of No Rings AJ Smith. He wants everyone to believe just the Jets want to interview him (even though they really haven't yet). What a great poker player you are AJ Smith, the true genius every CMB fan believes you to be. You who hates the Offensive Line Players above all other positions!

What a genius getting rid of VJ and getting Royal and Meachem. Afterall VJ is going to the pro bowl and Meachem did slightly better this season as VJ did in one game! That Sproles, Turner, and Brees trade for no one was pure genius. Holding out your franchise LT and Pro bowl WR in 2011 while the Chargers missed out by 2 games and a handful of points from the playoffs? Why wouldn't teams be hammering at your door. You sure showed VJ and MM who was boss!

Royal and Meachen didn't equal VJ... hindsight agrees with you.

Turner was a huge part of our playoff success in his final year with us IIRC...

I don't think anyone offers anything for Brees who had a 50% chance of never playing football again if we tagged him... much less for the QB on a 2nd franchise tag contract.

Sproles is a tough pill to swallow.

Jackson was playing a max of 12 regular season games the year he opted to hold out because he was facing a league suspension.

Hindsight says the Chargers won with McNeil's deal... we got insurance against his neck when he finally did come back which freed up some cap room when he did get hurt.

AJ Smith never succeeded as a GM when the standard the fans care about is winning the Super Bowl... but most of those moves made football sense at the time, and hindsight says they were right as well in some cases.
