My first night was ridiculous...
I knew how everything was going to break down because I have so many Air Force family members. Specially 3 that went through boot camp recently. So I knew we were going to shave shower and go to sleep. So once we got off the plane, I told all the guys to shave, so they wouldn't have to hurry and cut themselves later... Anyways, I'm at boot camp and they're yelling at us to shave like I expected. No idea how this happens but I shave a big chunk of skin off my right hand... Was horrible. Scared crapless cause I just got blood everywhere haha. Spent the whole night putting pressure on it so I didn't bleed all over the sheets.

One of the best lines of that night...
Guy next to me licks his lips while the TI was looking at him.
"Do I look ******* delicious to you boy?!"
Trying to hold back laughing was difficult. Became one of the highlights later on when we all looked back on our time there.

Hey, have any of you heard of the latest Java vulnerability?

Google it if you haven't.

Even the government is recommending people to disable Java on their computers and/or in their browsers until a fix is proven.

I just disabled mine. Don't want malware.

Potty Mouth #2 ....

At Fort Knox, a Blackhawk flies overhead, and invariably one guy in formation looks to the sky at it.

Immediately, Drill Sergeant Berkybyle runs up to that new soldier and says, "Hey, are you eye ******* my helicopter?"

Pushups commenced ......

Do military instructors sit around and think up new material or do you think it's as old as Unkle Bo's material just with a revolving fresh audience?

Had a TAC NCO there too .... MSG Bruce. Green Beret. Stud.

MSG Bruce also became my platoon TAC NCO at Fort Lewis ROTC Advance Camp the following year.

I don't remember our platoon officer name at IOBC at Fort Benning. He was a dumbass captain. Our TAC NCO at Benning was a guy name SFC Jolly .... Sergeant Jolly ... and he was. IOBC (Infantry Officers Basic Course) was a "Gentleman's" course. No yelling. We were all 2LT's then, and expected to be proficient at everything.
had a DI named Panty, yes Panty at Basic training up at Fort Ord. he was cool though.

other DI I had was just like R. Lee Ermy. just plain crazy.

the one that scared me the worst though was SFC Guerrero. filipino. 2 tours of nam. built in BS metter that never failed. he'd just give you that "look" and you knew-knew you would get it later.

had a DI in AIT in Fort McClellan, Alabama. mispronounced my last name so i corrected and he had me do 50. haha

he mispronounced my name for 10 weeks, but i got wise and just sd "Present Drill Sargeant"

weird thing at Ft McClellan was that at the time USMC sent their MPs their for AIT (this was early 1976) it was it was a mixed barracks with both USA and USMC trainees and both D.I.s

My TI continued to say this guys name wrong for the longest time. Didn't know he was saying it wrong till like week 7 of 8 haha. Was NO where near close too. Funnies thing...

The scariest TI in our squadron was this big black dude. Can't remember his name, but his nickname was Rattlesnake. They called him that cause he would always jingle his keys. Everywhere he went. He KNEW that crap was intimidating too. Every time we heard that, crap went silent and everyone locked it up.
Scariest noise Ever.......

You know how at the end of it all, you are supposed to respect and admire your DI's?

I felt that way about all but one -- Gunny Washington. I left AOCS with disrespect for that Lilliputian. Sorry, but it's true.
