LT is gonna go down as the last non QB to win the award for quite some time because of this era of QB's being treated like gods by the media.

I hate the argument "AP didn't do enough to surpass Manning". What was the dude supposed to do? He was 9 yards shy of the rushing record, and carried a team with 3 wins last year to the playoffs on the back of the most dominant stretch of running ever played (those last 8 games were incredible to watch).
Peyton had a meh year by Peyton standards and wasn't even necessarily the best QB in football.

Why is it taking so long for them to announce the awards this year?
Usually they have MVP done by wildcard weekend and yet this year I don't think any awards at all have been handed out. |

If AP wins it im ok with it but IMO he isnt the MVP. He was shy of breaking the single season rushing yds record coming off a devastating knee injury but compared to LTs MVP season its not even close.
LT put up HUGE numbers; 28 frigging rushing TDs! AP had a dozen, not bad but that's not even his career high. Had he been closer to 20 it would be a slam dunk. LTs MVP season came on Rivers' first as a starter so teams were gunning to stop the run (same as AP) and make the unproven QB (Ponder) beat them. As much as we hate Manning, at age 36 coming off 4 neck surgeries and still putting up Manning numbers and with a new team, i gotta give it to Peyton.

AP gets it. If not, something is seriously wrong with this league.
Last year they switched to having a huge awards night the night before the Super Bowl.

I favor AP. But I wouldn't flip out if Manning won it. But if Brady were to win it, I'd be really, really po'ed.

Peyton took a team that (with Tebow as QB) won the AFC West and went to the second round of the PO's and won the AFC west and went to the 2nd round of the POs.
