Those will also have to be sorted out, before anything can get started up there.

Now if Spanos wants to build a stadium on his own in LA then he'll have the same issues there as he has here. Financing being the huge one. No public money also a problem. Same as SD. The only advantage he may have in LA is finding a site may be easier if the politicians there colaborate. |

Unfortunately this thread is not really about "good news" it's more like "avoiding bad news for another year". No steps have been taken in the right direction for solving the major issue at hand, and profits surely had to be down this past year due to ticket sales. Hopefully the new regime can spark ticket sales again, and at least take care of the secondary problem. But yeah, we'll be in this same boat next year, waiting to essentially hear news of "another year another move avoided". Unfortunately with each year that passes the buyout figure decreases as well, so it's hard to remain optimistic for the long term... Last edited by chopper31; 01-19-2013 at 02:59 PM.. |

With our new mayor, why doesn't he ask for a billion in stimulus money from the fed? Heck they are printing 40 bil a month - what's 1 bil?

If Spanos decides to build a stadium in LA on his own it will be very costly for him. If he decides to build a stadium with the help of AEG or some other entity he'll have to give up part of the franchise. These are two very huge problems for the Spanos to overcome. If it were easy the Chargers would be playing in LA already. |

5X the population is a very lucrative incentive for Chargers to move. Couple that with a Real Estate mogul who can't get a Real Estate deal done in SD and IMO it's only a matter of time before they head North.
Answer this question - If not the Chargers, who? Enjoy your gloating while you can because you can't answer that question and the NFL will have at least one team in LA. Maybe not this year, but it will happen, give it time.

Other possible candidates. The Bucs. Tampa Bay has one of the worst attendance record in the NFL. The owners have been mum on the subject. The Jags, similar story but their owner says he'll stay in Jacksonville. The Bills need a stadium but they are more likely to move to Toronto if things don't work out in Buffalo. Less talked about, the Raiders. They have begun talks with Alemeda Co. officials but a real plan and financing may be years away. More importantly Oakland's owners are not billionaires like some of the othe NFL owners. The Davis' are the majority share holders but the others can easily sell their shares for huge profits. Similar to SD if the Raiders cannot get something done in their area they will move and LA would be their first target. Of all these the Rams are the most likely. Recent surveys have found that they are still the most popular team in LA followed by the Chargers and Raiders who trail the Rams in popularity by about 10 points. The next most likey team to move would be our Chargers followed by the Raiders. But you never know. Florida has to many teams and one of them could flee the state. |

Kicking the can down the street... I was actually surprised when they started to build the new stadium up here for the 49ers, but its happening. And when that stadium get a Super Bowl or two before another Super Bowl in San Diego, something will give. All this gibberish, we need to fix the offensive line. Then we can think about where we will play...
