We don't have the pieces to run a proper 3/4 either (missing pass rushing LB, no dominant NT) but we run it anyways.

Bolt Andy moeller - baltimore offensive line coach

Let's face it. No Offensive Coordinator from another NFL team, who has any success in his current position, is coming to the Chargers. They are all ladder climbers who want to move up in position to head coach. Offensive Coaches are also ladder climbers who want to move up to the Coordinator position.

You have to look at what we need The Chargers are DESPERATE for a good Offensive Line. So what do you do? Instead of looking at successful "Coordinators" look for a successful Offensive Line coach. Pick your favorite offensive line, and offer our Offensive Coordinator position to that Offensive Line coach. This way he is climbing the ladder to the next level up, and we get what we need. Having an Offensive minded Head Coach, only makes the deal more attractive to both sides.

I like Baltimore's Offensive Line, so that's why I say let's promote Andy Moeller to our OC position.

Franklin did just fine at NT, but I do agree that we need a solid pass rusher. And what would you do with what are possibly the best pair of young 3-4 DE's?

We would need way more pieces to make the Tampa 2 work.

Lets make this clear. I would like Pagano to stay. But there are no guarantees in this league.

If he happens to leave I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on Lovie, assuming he wants the position.

He's a great defensive mind and doesn't have to stick with the straight Tampa two to be successful. We saw that with Rivera who had no experience running the 3/4 before he got here. Perhaps your problem is with the Tampa two and not Lovie. If that's the case I understand. My position is you don't pass on a guy like Lovie if the opportunity is there.
Kinda like taking BPA in the draft vs reaching for need.

I take it we can shut this thread down now. Just hired Whisenhunt. I give that move 4 out of 5 stars. Things continuing to look up for the Bolts!!
