As for Brees he has incredible work ethic and a stronger arm than Manziel, plus dude is a HOF QB, you just don't compare college kids to a player of Brees caliber IMO.
LMAO!! Even with the "lack of tape" you can watch any game last year or the spring game this year a clearly see the arm strength. That same o-line was at TX A&M the year before with a 1st rounder playing QB without the kind of success Manziel had. Manziel playing his first season, with a new head coach, a new offense and an SEC schedule went on to have one of the best years at QB in SEC history. That does not equal "questionable intangibles", it equals off the chart intangibles. You have to compare him to Brees coming out of college not the HOF QB.

Attack me if you want I never said the kid couldn't play, I gave the opinion of professionals who scout for a living, someone asked a question and I innocently answered it with what I've heard throughout the scouting community (hint hint)...

Drink the Johnny football kool aide all you want to, we'll find out who's right in a few years. I had similar arguments with people about Pat White, granted Manziel is better than that but there are similarities between the two players.

As for Brees, I suggest you watch some Purdue tape if you can get your hands on it

Bottom line is Rivers is our QB and will be for some time no matter the hate...People on these forums forget we're all on the same team

I'd have been more impressed had the throw at 1:03 of the video would've hit his WR in stride.....He has adequate arm strength, not great. That said Montana had only adequate arm strength.

Manziel has a LONG way to go before I compare him to Joe Montana. He may be good, there are better options.

I wasn't attacking Rivers or suggesting the Chargers draft Manziel. Rivers is still an elite NFL QB. As for Brees at Purdue, I know he had a great career and I watched him play. However, he was drafted in the 2nd round due to concerns about his height, lack of arm strength and style of offense he played in at Purdue. Sound familiar? The professionals who scout for a living got it wrong. I wasn't the one who brought up Brees but at this point in his career Manziel is certainly more comparable than Pat White is. Just my opinion and I wasn't attacking you, just the reasoning behind your opinion.

Jim Chaney was the OC at Purdue during Brees' career there...and FYI...that was a pro style offense he ran.

"When Tiller got the Purdue job in 1997 he again went after Brees and this time Brees was interested. Tiller’s spread offense, which he called, “basketball-on-grass,” with its fast-break concept built around a high-percentage short passing game, became a very successful novelty in the Big Ten and Brees was the perfect engineer. He went on to break just about every Big Ten passing record in garnering the conference’s most valuable player award in 2000. His presence rocketed the Boilermakers’ previously dormant football program to prominence. Tiller became the winningest football coach in Purdue history and in the process took the Boilermakers to 10 bowl games before retiring in 2008. All thanks in huge part to Brees."

Who's with me?
Not me....
Fix our O-Line and Rivers will be fine.
But yeah in a couple of years Rivers will be what? 33 or 34?
I'd draft him not to replace Rivers but to sit behind him for a year or two and became PR's successor just like GB did with Rodgers and Favre
