Default Official Padres 2015 Season

Alright boys I think it is time to start the official Padres 2015 season thread.

I think all of us are pretty excited about this years teams with all of the acquisitions made. It is finally nice to see the Padres be aggressive in free agency and spend some money. The best thing about these acquisitions is that we kept our best asset intact (pitching staff) and kept our top prospects as well.

Notable Additions:

Matt Kemp
Justin Upton
Will Meyers
Derek Norris
James Shields
Brandon Morrow

The ceiling is high for our Padres this year; however there are some concerns as well. So as spring training creeps ever closer lets start talking Padre baseball.

Record/Standings prediction?
Offensive MVP?
Best Pitcher?
5th Starter?
Concerns?

Basically everything and anything Padres

You think the newly signed Cuban is not only making the final roster, but will be in the starting rotation ??

Even if he's ready he looks like a long reliever.

He was a starter for us last year, and pitched well...3.36 ERA in 16 starts and almost 100 innings

Record/Standings prediction: 90-72
Offensive MVP: Justin Upton
Best Pitcher: Andrew Cashner
5th Starter: Morrow, to start, Despaigne when someone goes down, and Johnson when he gets back probably around the All-Star break
Concerns: No True Leadoff hitter, and we need a SS (Tulowitski at the trade deadline)

I apologize. I had another player in mind.

Record: 83-79
Offensive MVP- Justin Upton. .265 26 hr 95 rbi
Best Pitcher: Andrew Cashner
5th Starter: Odrisamer Despaingne
Concerns: Lack of speed, Poor defense, lots of strikouts, and no high average guys....basically everyone on offense still has questions whether it be injury concerns, bouncbacks, with the exception of Upton.

Pitchers and catchers report today.

I know it is just a bunch of guys throwing the ball back and forth, but with the moves this off-season, the excitement just keeps building and building as the season approaches.

Potential for this team, excited about the season. If things go well, we could contend in the west and NL.

Concerns: like every once else, defense. Injury bug is always a concern, but especially for this team. I hope the role players learn and adapt to their role, i'm looking at you Cameron Maybin.
