Never take a division opponent lightly especially these guys who could have beaten us twice last year. Latavius Murray looks like a load and a big problem for a defense such as ours with question marks in the middle. Not looking forward to trying to stop this guy twice this season

Murray was actually in the bottom of the league in both yards after contact and missed tackles. Small sample size, but so far he's been quite easy to bring down.

Well, they did play us twice. In that sense we could have beaten KC & Denver twice each. No doubt we will this year since most take the Chargers lightly.

Not advocating either way.
He's the best they have had in awhile.
Most of what I've heard is hype over what he did as a rookie. Which, if you look at it, the only thing that was OK was his TD to INT ratio (21:14). To which I would say that they were only able to manage a league low 4 rushing touchdowns. So the scores were going to come from somewhere, because it's tough to get much worse than the 15.8 pts/game that they scored last season. When you're just about never running for scores, it's going to inflate the number of passing touchdowns via opportunity. And it's also easier to avoid a lot of INT's when you're never taking chances with the ball. Rookies typically throw a lot of picks when trying to make difficult conversions. But Carr avoided that by completing dinks and dunks for 5 yards when he needed 10. His approach still led to changes in possession, but not necessarily because of turnovers.

I think it was a decent year for him. The people saying he sucks because he dinks and dunks the football around, that is actually kind of a smart play on their part. He didn't have much talent around him last year and they are starting to build around him. It's too early to say this kid is not a starting NFL QB. He is better looking prospect than the last few qbs they drafted over there.

How can it be smart? It just resulted in a bunch of meaningless completions and punts.

If that's the bar for decent, then there was maybe one or two starting QB's last year who weren't decent.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders' passing game has been the highlight in training camp. For the most part, the front-line passing game did well in the preseason opener.

Derek Carr's last play of the game was his worst of the night in Friday's preseason opener against the St. Louis Rams. He forced the ball in the end and it was picked off, ending a nice drive. Carr finished 6-of-9 for 43 yards. He was crisp and looked comfortable with receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. It's just the preseason; Carr will learn from trying to force the ball in the end zone.

Here are some quick thoughts on the Raiders' 18-3 win over the St. Louis Rams:

QB depth chart: The Raiders brought in Christian Ponder from the Minnesota Vikings -- he was there with new Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave -- to be the backup to Derek Carr. He has been sharing those duties with Matt McGloin. However, Ponder relieved Carr and delivered a touchdown on his drive. He played with the first-team offensive line in that drive against the Rams' backups. Still, it was good for him to work with the first-team line because he may be forced to do so in the regular season. McGloin was good as he always is in the preseason, completing 10 of 11 passes. Ponder probably still has the edge.

The best Offense is a good Defense.

Kahlil Mack is scary. He is abusing the Cards RT and taking his lunch money. Cooper is also looking pretty impressive so far.

They're finally looking like a team on the verge of respectability.
