Why are so many of the "big name" SoCal stations on AM?

I'm going to send an email to the LA times and ask them who their Chargers best reporter will be or if they even know yet.

I noticed that Gehlken was the reporter of record on a story this weekend...

I listened to an interview with Jay Posner online today. He said LA Times runs some of their articles and they plan to run some of LA Times articles about the Chargers. Jay Posner also said there is a misconception that the LA Times owned the UT and he said that is false. idk

Maybe it's was just a play on words. Perhaps it's t use that the LA times doesn't own the UT. However, they both may be owned by the same company? You know, "alternative facts"! Lol.
I just hope that whoever becomes "the" team reporter, doesn't bring their SD hate baggage with them.

That's because the LA Times and SDUT have the same owners. They've been sharing stories for quite some time.

Not indicative that Gehlken will be the beat writer for the LAT.

I haven't followed which writers have followed the 1090 model of burning every possible bridge with the Chargers (except for Acee, whose access will undoubtedly be limited). If Gehlken has chosen a wiser path, I'd imagine he'll be the front runner should he wish to relocate.

According to Jay Posner, this is incorrect. He said it's a common misperception.

Los Angeles Times is owned by Tribune Media out of Chicago.

San Diego Union Tribune is owned by Platinum Equity.

Huh. Tell Mr. Posner, and Platinum Equity, to read this. (Apparently they didn't get the memo).

http://money.cnn.com/2015/05/07/medi...old/index.html

Platinum sold the SDUT to MLIM Holdings in 2011.

SDUT was subsequently sold to Tribune Publishing in 2015. (Two years seems a long time for folks not to have been told yet. Even in Pagano time).

P.S. "tronc" is the new (puzzling name) of the owner of the SDUT and the Los Angeles Times (and the Chicago Tribune, among several other daily newspapers).
