I would go with Hooker and go Pass Rush in F.A.

I agree with you.

To me, it's a no brainer. I mean, he is being compared to Ed Reed. I don't think you can beat that. A great cover safety has more impact than a great thumper one.

That's why I created this thread, I'm really curious why people are picking Adams before one safety Jeremiah said is one of the best he ever evaluated.

Adams please.
More complete player
Around the ball on nearly every play
3 year starter, team leader, literally every skill is better than Hooker except
Ball skills and range which adams is still above average im both those
I normally go for the more upside guy too
But we need lower risk on 7 overall
Hooker is a soft basketball player in disguise
Adams is always thinking, miving and effecting the play.
Hooker will take poor angles, miss tackles and quit between big interceptions
We assume he will get better at playing safety and that his athleticism will carry his game to an Ed reed level, imo you need to have a passion for the game to have a chance, and Hooker doesn't appear to have that.
So while I would be happy with either at 7, Hooker is a risk I hope we don't take.

Wts, In case anyone missed it
FOURNETTE@7!!!

Eye think Fournette is Cajun or Creole.
Also curious why you prefer Adams.
Hooker's range is generational, ala Deion Sanders.
Also, there are several big, combo safeties in the mid rounds.
Lots of mocks have TEN taking Adams (Top Tier player no doubt).
TBH I predict TEN takes Mike Williams or OJ Howard for Mariota.
Yea, I know he isn't really French.....just messing with CT a bit, eh...

On Adams; I just see a better football player, and that is really just me.....as both are solid players,

I am hoping Williams is still there @#7, otherwise it will be S or CB.....

Think Hooker has the higher ceiling than Adams. But I also think Hooker has more of a bust factor to him. Others have shared and I agree that his passion for the game seems to be lacking and thus concerning. Adams is a leader who plays with so much enthusiasm it spreads to everyone. I like Adams as he's just been more consistent in his college career, but the potential with Hooker is appealing so I wouldn't be disappointed with him either. Though I think we can wait for a safety prospect in this draft class.

Great post.

I will be consistent with my overall philosophy -- I prefer guys who I KNOW love the game and have their heads on right. I don't agree at all that heart is something that you can "coach up."

For me, it's Adams.

Although I would understand the gamble on Hooker -- but not so much with the #7 overall.

Don't think he's comparable to Adams or Hooker at this point in their careers. Peppers might have the highest ceiling in this draft class....but he's really just a special athlete than he is a special football player. If you take away his returns and his offensive touches and look at him solely as a safety prospect I think he wouldn't have as much hype as he does now. For being labeled a play maker he has a whopping one INT to show for it.

I personally would rather take Adams if we had to pick between the two right now. But I would rather wait on a safety prospect or trade down a little if possible. But Adams at #7 is not bad either. I just haven't been completely enamored with any prospects at #7 yet, that's if we are to stand pat there.

...I think you either (1)trade down and get more picks or (1a)Pick the best WR or OT that's on the board at #7...
