I think it's valid to point out who he is surrounded by and what gameplans opposing O coordinators went with, but just looking at what he CAN do, it's very impressive.
Allens quickness is comprable to Aaron Donald, not saying he's there but I think they're both quick to either beat their guy or slide right by them.
He's definitely an interior guy who I want to put next to Bosa

Soloman's traits are just so impressive that it's easy to project him as a dominant DE in a more traditional 43 (not Gus' Seattle over/under)
I think it's going to take some internal motivation from Soloman to want to improve his awareness and so far nothing I've read about him makes me believe he isn't ready to take the next step

So at this point it's like both have about the same ceiling with allen being the more nfl ready
Neither are perfect immediate fits but the important part is that the upside is there for the molding.

Btw soloman looks solid in run defense and schematically it would be nice to have the edges secured by him and Bosa and funnel the RBs right into the middle where peryyman can say HELLO!

Id prefer to sign two or three mid tier guys rather than break the bank on one FA. Succes is dependent on depth and sustaining injuries. I'll take 2 B's over an A and a scrub.

Use the big money to resign the players you've drafted and are familiar with that have proven themselves in your organization.

UP FRONT
Corey Liuget. Caraun Reid. Tenny Palepoi.
Damien Square. Sean Lissemore. Darius Philon.

We have too many 1Gap/3Tech DTs
from Pagano's 34 Hybrid Defense.

We need another 2Gap DT.
This would free up Liuget/Bosa. Protect Jatavis/Perryman.
Dalvin Tomlinson Round 3. Eddie Vanderdoes Round 5.

LEO/SAM
Melvin Ingram. Kyle Emanuel.
Jerry Attaochu. Tourek Williams.
All will rotate between LEO & SAM.
We don't have any true 4-3 OLBs with range/pass coverage ability.
Anthony Walker. Duke Riley. Round 3. Alex Anzalone Round 4.

BACK MIDDLE
Denzel Perryman. Korey Toomer.
Our MIKE position is deficient in pass coverage.
A FS with range can help reduce the size of the area
that they have to defend.
Malik Hooker Round 1. Budda Baker Round 2.
Marcus Williams Round 3. John Johnson Round 4.

If we draft defenders with specific needed skills,
the transition will go more smoothly,
and we will have greater flexibilty on defense.
Bradley is famous for late round nuggets.
Nice analysis, Woody! Points out need to draft a lot of D, but I still think we need O-line and WR help.

Or, trade down for an extra second rounder...

That's a possibility too. But I still wouldn't blow the bank on one player in FA when there's so many spots that can use an upgrade.

Get the damn OL in FA. Maybe a WR on the cheap.

Round 1 Pick 7: Solomon Thomas DE Stanford
Round 2 Pick 6: Raekwon McMillan, ILB/OLB, Ohio State

Round 4 Pick 6: Devonte Fields, OLB/DE, Louisville
Round 5 Pick 7: Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, Colorado
Round 6 Pick 6: Jordan Sterns, FS, Oklahoma State
Round 7 Pick 7: Treyvon Hester, DT, Toledo
