We are gonna get pleasantly surprised at 7.

Will QBs go early ?
Trubisky is solidly in the top 10, perhaps Kizer will eventually get there too with his prototype size and speed. Watson is in the top 20 imo. I'm hoping Clev is enamored with Kizer and fear he wont get to them at 12 thus needing to move to 7. Deep draft = needing more picks. Although Solomon Thomas or Reuben Foster is looking mighty sweet to team up with Bosa to build a formidable defense.

1. Reuben Foster (get a top 5 player without a top 5 pick. Foster will be an absolute monster in the pros). Never enough LBs in the NFL and guys like#51 dont belong in the starting lineup.
2. OL
3. Brad Kaaya (time to look forward to a new era at QB)
4. Joe Mixon RB (talented back who'll drop for off field altercation 2 years ago).

One positive, if Solomon flies up boards, Allen could potentially drop.

Can I get a ?
Allen's reported shoulder history scares me.

I think we can assume that at least A QB will go.

Last time a QB wasn't taken by pick 7 was 2013. Before that you have to go back to 2000.

Both of those years were not good years for QBs. Peenington in 2000 and EJ Manuel in 2013 were the first selected.

When the Bolts take Trubinsky @7, is he the second QB taken ?

Please have your conversation about Hibachi and Kaspersky somewhere else.

This specialized thread is an excellent chance to talk about specific things, such as Gus' schemes and personnel.

It would be very useful IMHO to talk about how holdover players, free agents, and potential draftees would fit in the 43 Over and the 43 Under.

The potential pick Trubinsky will not be a good fit in Gus' scheme......

Gus says the current players are a good fit for his scheme.

Bradley: Well, I think the players we have here is why it was a good fit (for me to come to the Chargers). When you look at the personnel and what they’ve done in the past, especially what they’ve done really well, you can start picturing these players in our defense and realize it’s a pretty good fit. The pieces in place here are a really good fit for what we’ll do scheme wise. Right now (I’m breaking down film on our) players, and I’m looking at their skillset and what they do well. Every time you put in a defense, your objective is to get the ball. That is our overall objective. So you look at putting players in the best position possible utilizing their skillset. So when I watch tape, I’m trying to find out what their skill set is. And within that scheme, trying to design it so they are in the best possible position to utilize it.

And Lynn said he can work with this offensive line.

This is where our work begins.

How much do you want to bet Gus said the same thing whe he flew in to J'ville from Seattle ?

Then, he went on to acquire Dante Fowler, a prototype LEO, Malik Jackson, a prototype 3Tech and Myles Jack, a prototype SAM. He already had Telvin Smith, a prototype WILL. Tashaun Gipson is not a prototype rangy FS.

I invite one and all to participate in this thread in a substantive manner, and to start a separate thread about quarterbacks. I ask that at least you don't kill this thread. I put in a lot of work researching, and we would all benefit from real conversation.

With regard to coaches comments, they must be taken with a grain of salt. It is time to assess and make a lot of personnel decisions. There is no need to show their cards now, for a variety of reasons.
