Good NFL.com article on 8 things that are going to impact the upcoming FA period:

Cornerbacks will get paid
...

Veteran running backs could be disappointed
...

Few edge rushers
...

Wide receivers available in all shapes and sizes
...

QB market could take time to shake out
...

Watch the Patriots and Packers
. . .

A league-wide offensive tackle problem
...

Unchartered territory with cap room

CSN Chicago reports the 49ers, Jets, and Bills have all dropped out of the bidding for free agent Mike Glennon.

We're not convinced the Bills were ever involved, while multiple reports elsewhere suggest the Jets were severely outbid by the Bears. Bay Area reports state the 49ers have "no interest" in Glennon at all. With only the Bears left to bid, it's possible Glennon's price tag drops below his expected $14-15 million annually. All signs continue to point toward Glennon landing in Chicago.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Rams are in trade "discussions with several teams" about franchise player CB Trumaine Johnson.

Johnson signed his franchise tender on Monday, which will pay him $16.7 million in 2017. The Rams have been reluctant to sign Johnson to a long-term deal, suggesting they see him as a questionable fit under new DC Wade Phillips. One of the better cover corners in football, Johnson would obviously be a huge get for whoever lands him.

A bidding war for Mike Glennon ???

Expected price tag between $14 - $15 million per year ???

What is this world coming to ???

Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune would be "surprised" if free agent Cordarrelle Patterson is back with the Vikings next season.
Patterson is understandably seeking a big payday and Vensel doesn't see the the Vikings paying top dollar for a player who makes most of his impact on special teams. Alex Marvez of The Sporting News reported earlier that Patterson is already drawing interest from the Bears. Patterson has made the All-Pro team as a return specialist three of the last four seasons but has never topped 500 yards receiving.

Hope we aren't the ones to pay him too much. I wanted him but not for a bank breaker.
