No news for awhile and probably will be like that. We made no moves in the offseason so far to pressure him nor through the draft or FA and his side has a valid standpoint he is underpaid by approx 2mil if he signs the tender.
It's a weird situation indeed. He just turned 28. We can control him for another year by tagging him again by the time he will be 30 he can then hit the market.
However he has shown improved play from year to year to go with 32 games played the last 2 seasons. Which should work in his favor in the negotiations.

Any idea when he has to sign to be eligible for this season?

I believe has until week 10 of the regular season to sign it & get credit for the 2017 season.

As far as playing goes, he can join the team the second he signs it.

Just for the record I HATE HOLD OUTS - reminds me of Gates and how that cost the team. I hope he signs and even better that the team works out a long term deal.

He'll probably sign once TC starts.

Really can't stand hold outs either. You let the team down. By letting yourself not be a team player.

It is a business, and as such, his first obligation is to himself.

I hope both sides find an agreeable number.

Hated holdouts when the players in question are still under contract. As I've grown up, once he signs his tender he gives up his leverage to sign a new deal. As long as he doesn't miss any practices or games I'll be fine, but I still understand why he isn't signing right now.

He has a more legimate stance than V-Jax half a decade ago unfortunately.
I don't know if the front office even wasn't to give him a long term deal.
