Default Chargers Release Orlando Franklin

Cap casualty, or did we draft his replacement?

Scshefter reporting that after drafting 2 Olinemen, Franklin was deemed too expensive to keep around.

I expected this to go down next year but I'm not surprised. He never really played well as a Charger.

I was hoping for more from a fellow "good Canadian boy"

They saved a lot of money between Franklin and Fluker. Good cap move.

Freak remembers the day Lamp and Feeney were drafted: Anthony Lynn said they would both be starters. Later, he tried to backpedal out of it by talking about camp competition. Uh huh..................

He knew then about Franklin. The Rookies start.

...I tried to talk up the idea of keeping O but it was just no use, playoffs or bust this season no excuses, that's for sure....

Both. Lamp was always gonna start and just cutting Franklin saves some room.

Wow, thought they might keep Franks around at least for depth...I'm guessing they want to free up some $$$ for a big FA signing, and not necessarily O-line...maybe cornerback?

They did not want him at veterans Mini Camp.

Put on your thinking caps.

Looks like they were just waiting to see the rooks work up close in rookie camp to confirm that they were as impressive as they hoped. Looks like they were. Also looks like they have confidence in Barksdale or possibly Lamp at RT.

I really like the group of Slauson, Tuerk, Lamp, Feeney, and Pulley. They should provide both nice competition and depth going forward at the the three interior spots. The fact that Slauson and Pulley (and probably Tuerk) can play both G and C spots really helps as well.
