2010 Packers:

-Right Guard: Sitton, 4th round
-Right Tackle: Bulaga, 1st round

2009 Saints:

2006 Colts:

-Left Tackle: Glenn, 1st round
-Left Guard: Scott, 5th round
-Center: Saturday, Undrafted
-Right Guard:Lilja, Undrafted
-Right Tackle: Diem, 4th round

So over the last 6 seasons, the superbowl winning teams' average at each position:

-Left tackle: 3rd round
-Left guard: 6th round
-Center: 6th round
-Right Guard: 3rd round
-Right Tackle: 3rd round

So, uhhh... apparently not.
Very interesting... Thanks for looking into that. The averages are really surprising to me... First rounders get all the hype... and I think on average have a longer career then the general NFL player... but 1st rounders bust and UDFAs boom every year... there just isn't any way to predict the future... coaching, drive, determination, scheme, luck, injuries play to much of a factor.

On a side note... between this and your FA thread welcome to the list of posters who will cause me to stop my scrolling if I see their name in a thread list.

Haha, good to know man.

I am all for the Chargers choosing an offensive lineman in the first round, but that's because what we need is a left tackle. The guy we take either needs to be able to start at LT right away, or play RT and be our backup LT until we move on from Gaither.

But as for guards, centers, and right tackles you really don't need to spend first round picks to get good ones. There are a whole lot of really excellent players at those positions that were not first round picks. Doesn't mean that you try to get by with nothing but 6th-undrafted guys, but you just don't have to spend the highest ones.

I think I followed the intent pretty well of this thread.......looks like Undrafted did great, and the 4th Round did good too.

Great analysis on draft picks of SB OLs, Kemp. Really cool stuff.

So if MM and Dirty hadn't been hurt, AJ's score would be:

LT - 2nd round
LG - Undrafted
C - 3rd round
RG - 3rd round
RT - 6th round

Pretty much right in the wheelhouse .....

I think we all know AJ hasn't drafted a lineman other than McNeill in the first two rounds.

I think we all know the O-line is in shambles.

Some think the O-line has created the Rivers mess.

So, draft fat dudes? OK, sign me up.

I think we may just be able to get a good one or two this year.
I'm part of the some....

I think that's what most people are basing that conclusion off. Certainly Harris is a huge drop off. I remember reading in the pre-season and first game or two how we were going to expect to see McMichael parked on Harris's left side to help him out. Without analyzed every play, not sure how often that's actually occurred, or how effective it's been.

Whether or not these conclusions are legitimate I'll let others decide.
Not to mention that clary was handing rivers to denver defense on a silver platter....
