I'm concerned. What if the LA Chargers do much better next season than the San Diego Chargers did stinking it up in San Diego the past three seasons?

Did Spanos change philosophy?
Lynn hired his son as defensive assistant.
I thought they took a stand during the Marty release about allowing family members to be hired by the HC.

Think part of it was AJ Smith, he and Marty didn't have the greatest of relationships IIRC

There's a difference in hiring a relative as a lower level employee vs. a DC or OC. Small amounts of nepotism to get someones longterm foot in the door is not entirely bad. It gets to be a problem when you hire them as your generals.

That is an understatement. But the REAL catastrophe that this simmering conflict lead to was the LEGENDARY and UNHEARD OF MISTAKE displayed by Dean Spanos, the most mistake prone NFL owner by far. He decided that the cure for this problem was to FIRE a 14-2 head football coach!!

PS. Am I getting banned for telling the truth regarding the owner? Now he has taken the Chargers from his father and from the city and I sincerely hope the next generation of Spanos ownership will be smarter!! I mean, could he not have hired a counselor to handle the problem relationship between Marty and AJ??

Marty was assigned too much blame, in my opinion, for the playoff losses. He simply had too much emotion hyped up in his players so they did things like fumble punts (Eric Parker) and fumble interceptions (You are not a running back Marlon). That we will never know the outcome of Rivers' sophomore starter season with LT still here along with the FB usage is a shame.

Marty was a great motivator and disciplinarian. He along with AJ took a bad team and turned them into a contender.

He just couldn't win big games and it haunted him his entire career.

It's a scenario that may happen. The huge distraction of moving is no longer a mental burden for the players and NFL teams that have moved to a new city have either made a Super Bowl run or won the championship (Baltimore/ Indianapolis Colts, LA/ St. Louis Rams,Browns/Ravens, Oilers/ Titans).

San Diego/ Los Angeles Chargers? Stay tuned.
