I would be very happy if the Chargers drafted Ramczyk at 7 and Dion Dawkins at 38.

Okung and his contract would suggest that he is a "bridge" player.

The identity of the Chargers would be transformed.

Okung plus a parlay of one, even two, high round offensive linemen would be fantastic.
I'm torn in that same way.

Think I'll make up 2 scenarios - what I expect and what I would like.

Well as of now we have one gaping whole and that is at right guard. I feel one of Pulley or Clark have the potential to fill in nicely but nothing is a certainty. It's a shame we've lost Fluker and Te'o but I do feel both need a change of scenary, Chargers just want for them. Of coarse injury played a big role in their failure to develop. At line backer we have two beasts being Brown and Perryman, also some players with Potential like Emmanuel and Perry. Toomer can be a decent fill in while we find a potential star or if the latter two develop well

This team actually has lots of talent as we all know, the key is staying healthy and in the trenches. Our defensive line is good but our offensive line needs help and depth. We also could use a pass catching back to help take some load off Gordon, we can draft one or try to resign decent options like McCluster, Hillman, or Oliver. Nickel Robey should be pursued as I like him in the slot, pretty underrated IMO. In the draft I would like us to either draft a free safety, offensive line, pass catching back, quarterback, and a linebacker wouldn't be bad either. Our first pick should be BPA or trade down. The more picks the better

Need another back and if he excels, we could trade him or Gordon and load up on picks in the near future. Win Win.

Hope you're right, but to be on the safe side, we need to draft Fluke's replacement within the first 3 rounds.

What is all this insanity with the Chargers needing a QB, and taking one in the 1st round?

Completely ridiculous if you ask me.

Rivers is turning 36 this season and has lead the league in turnovers 2 out of the last 3 years. If the team truly believes one of these guys can be a franchise QB it would behoove them to take him at 7.
He can learn the pro offense behind Rivers for a year or two and then take over the reigns once he's ready. That's probably the best chance for long term sustained success.

Then you might as well trade Rivers now.

If you want to look to the future, and not win now then go get as much as you can for Rivers while you can.

Because by going out to and getting a QB with the first round pick you are telling Rivers, and fans we aren't looking to win now.

I'm not saying I wouldn't go get a QB with a our #7 pick if ones worth the pick, but I'm not keeping Rivers here because you basically said we are looking towards the future.

If we trade down a few picks and get another second rounder we could use a second on a qb if there. Pretty crazy that two very good nfl starters (wilson, prescott) were drafted in the third. when picking qb I think intangibles really need to be looked at.
