Having said that, I'd prefer to develop a mid round QB, since we do have 3 years to do it before Rivers probably retires.
If Rivers' decline is assured, so should poor results.....and not winning equates to high draft slot. I do not agree with the assessment on Rivers' play, as I think fix the o-line you fix all that constrains the offence. TT simply needs to stop missing on his OL picks.....

I know Hooker is still our guy in lots of mocks. But, it appears that Hooker only falls to the Bolts if no offensive players are taken prior.

Consider this scenario, with no trade (down) partners - you have to pick at #7.
DRAFTED:
Myles Garrett DE A&M
Solomon Thomas DE Stan
Jamal Adams S LSU
Malik Hooker S OSU
Jonathan Allen DE Bama
Marshon Lattimore CB OSU

Do you grab the best player available in RB Fournette?
Address positions of need?
OL = Ramczyk (projected in most mocks to go late teens, early 20s)
DE = upgrade, going to the 4-3. Lots of high rated talent here that would be worthy of a #7
DB = looks like best available would be a CB
WR = prime choice of the #1 WR in either Williams or Davis
QB = groom the heir apparent under Rivers

IMO, if we're in this position, I'd grab Fournette. He's in the Top 3 talent-wise and that's getting value at 7. RB isn't a glaring need but we're thin here and one Gordon injury from not having a backfield threat. I think the 2nd safest bang for our buck, in this scenario, is getting the bookend DE for the 4-3 to start opposite of Bosa. The draft talent here would be the biggest upgrade to our current option (Philon) and we can get someone we can plug in as a starter.

Ramczyk should only be considered if we can trade down. Okung helps address the OT. But, to me, this is our largest area of need with Fluker and Dunlap gone. I can understand if TT grabs him at 7.
If this happens, and we can't trade down, there is only one option and its a very good one...Ruby Foster. Bank on it.

Pluses:

-Highest tier in several measurables/tests at Combine.
-Superior athlete.
-Good technique.
-High football IQ.
-Great position flexibility. CB. Slot. NB. FS.

KK is not a real strong tackler.

If he is on the board at 38
Kevin King will be the pick.

At CB we don't need good tacklers in Gus's system. Its a plus though. They primarily need to be effective in defending balls coming from a steep angle. Length is desired. Their safeties need to be good tacklers though. Hence my concern of getting Hooker.

Gus's system in Seattle called for his front to stop the run and altering the trajectory of thrown balls where the ball is falling from the sky as opposed to lasers. Hence the importance in keeping Ingram. Those almost sacks we joke about end up being low percentage passes at higher trajectories.

Defensive backfield must be addressed.
Likewise offensive line.

Rudy Ford.
Clemson safety.
Good tackler.
Very, very fast 40.
Lacking in ball awareness.
Round 7 ?
Undervalued !

When I saw his 40 time I gasped. That is insane speed for a guy still rehabbing an ankle that still isn't 100%.

He was asked to do things he is not well suited for.

Ford did not look to have good coverage skills, but he is a strong tackler.

Hits.

Larry Ogunjobi.
Jordan Willis.
Haason Reddick.
Deatrick Wise.
Daeshon Hall.

We have talked to these guys.

I just did another PON list.

Scrutinized Ourlads/Chargers depth chart again.

Offense: WR. RB. OLT.

Defense: 3Tech. MIKE. Combo DB.

This would make us two deep everywhere, but still talent deficient.

I wonder - did TT leave the door ajar for people that want a QB when he declined to say we would not draft a QB? Is he letting it be known that he could screw up some other teams that intend to take a QB. Maybe Cleveland plans to get their QB with their second pick in the first round and maybe now they think we better get him with that first pick - so someone slides down to us.

NFL.com said - Smokescreen season is enjoyable if only because misinformation is the currency of the NFL from late February to early May. Maybe a team needing a quarterback will have to call Telesco and make a deal.

Seems like the ploy to me. Personally I think the odds of taking a QB at 7 is slim to none in reality. If TT lands a trade out of his vague "interest" it's a score all the way.

Browns giving us 12 and 33 for 7 is almost a textbook swap by the draft chart, I'd love it.

2 of the first 6 picks in day two would be nice.
