Default Committing to the run

Isn't that what Whizenhunt said they would do? I'm sure many of you know how Gordon had less carries in the second half of the season opener. Mccoy made a dumb decision. Gordon was killing the Chiefs in the first half. Destroying them. What happens after halftime? He gets less touches. Most of the time it's Danny Woodhead. Gaining maybe a few yards or not much yardage.

Woodhead had 2 more carries than Gordon. The reason why Woodhead gets used so much is because of passing situations. He's a weapon to catch the ball on screens or out of the backfield. When the other team knows we are throwing the ball he draws the attention of the opposing defense. Sometimes he gains good rushing yardage. Sometimes he does not.

I don't trust the offense to be able to do well right now in the passing game. We couldn't do that much in the passing game outside of KA. The team is trying to adapt to life without KA. So I think we need to lean on the ground game more. Gordon needs to get more carries. The coaching staff probably don't want to overwork Gordon. Maybe 20-25 carries for him is good. Don't we have Farrow and Williams? We need one of them to spell Gordon. They can split the carries with him.

Playing Woodhead in front of Gordon is just bad all around.....

Woodhead should get some touches, but they should not be remotely close to the number Gordon gets.

I really don't care what the play call is, as Gordon has shown he can catch the ball just fine.

They don't trust Gordon in pass pro. That's it. That's the reason. And furthermore I wonder when they ever will? I love Woodhead but he isn't the savior.

Gordon should get his first 100 yard game Sunday.

I'd like to see all 4 backs play too. We should seriously consider running 60/40

I wouldn't mind running the ball on 3rd and 5s either. Our Play Action would be super tough to defend

Just watched the Raider/ Saints game on NFL Network last night. Their Oline are taking names and pancaking defenders. Keleche Osemele played spectacular in his debut providing a key block to a 75 yd run.

The call to go for two to win was pretty gutsy. Several Raiders when interviewed alluded to the trust coach gave them by putting them in those situations. Season is young...we have faith that the Chargers will commit to the run. Right? Tough being a Charger fan

Sucks that we are so married to shotgun.

I get it that PR can see defenses better, but mix it up.

I believe the sequence after Verrett's great play/ interception is what turned the contest against us--all shotgun.

In week one they had 36 pass attempts to 32 rush attempts. They ran the ball at 4.8 yards per carry. With that kind of YPA and that big of a lead there is no reason for there to have been more pass attempts than rush attempts. IF they prove they can continue to run the ball effectively then I think we'll see an extremely balanced offense that leans on the run game to eat up clock and control the time of possession. With Allen down there isn't really anyone who gets open quickly and consistently making for easy completions in the passing game. More than ever they'll need to use the run game and play action to open up the passing game.
