Default Don't feel sorry for Philip Rivers?

PR doesn't want us to feel sorry for him... While admirable, you can't help but do just that as a Charger fan.

That's all fine and good Mr. Rivers but football is a team sport. TT and Spanos need to do a better job of getting you a supporting cast and competent coaching staff.

Bottom line IMHO is that LT is right and PR is just the consumate professional that will not bad mouth his organization.

PR is a coaches son. He was raised to not air dirty laundry in public. He's just an all around good dude. Can't really find flaws with his character. When the worst thing people can say is that he's too passionate, you have to laugh.

I don't feel sorry, it's sport. Dan Marino did not win big games but he's one of the most spectacular player that I ever seen. Like Fouts.
Do you prefer to have Joe Theisman or Dave Hostetler at QB? They won big games!!!!

The other day I heard about Trent Dilfer saying that despite his Superbowl win, he'd trade his career for Rivers' as he felt he hadn't lived up to his potential and produced at the kind of level Rivers has.

As far as the article, this is nothing less than what I would expect from Rivers. If any issues do exist he certainly won't make them a public thing. I don't think he's looking to cut and run just because times are tough right now.

"Don't Cry for Me, Argentina". Rivers is making millions. I think he'll bear up all right.

Why would I feel sorry for Rivers?

Gets paid to travel the country, lives in San Diego, getting paid millions to do what he loves the most.

Envy? Sure.

Feel sorry for him? No.

I don't feel sorry for him. Not everyone can win a Super Bowl. Marino, Moon and Tarkenton never won one either.

His statement reminds me of something Reggie Miller said once about being the leader. He said as the leader of the team, you sit at the head of the table with all of your teammates looking at you to lead them. You have the city and the fanbase on your back. When the Pacers failed to capture a championship, Miller said that all the blame falls to him despite the circumstances simply because he sat at the head of the table as the leader. Rivers understands that even when most try to make excuses for him. I may be critical of Rivers, but I'll always respect him as a leader simply because he gets it and doesn't run from it.
