Pretty much. But he's decent on the right side, so the idea is that we draft someone like Lewan and start him at RT with Gaither at left. If (when) Gaither goes down, we slide Lewan over and insert Dunlap. So I guess he wouldn't exactly be a "swing tackle" but the net effect is the same. In any case, you're not going to sign guys playing well as starters right now like Bushrod and Beatty to backup money. And you're not going to pay your backup starter money. Something has to give there.

He's not spent a 1st on an OL, but thats because up until 06 we didn't need anything on the OL. Obviously the OL wasn't a concern in 07. In 08, AJ reportedly really wanted Dwayne Brown in the 1st, but he was selected right before us. And beyond that, I actually support him that RT is NOT a position you ever want to spend a high pick on, and that was the only position that our OL was hurting. We had Dielman, McNeil and Hardwick, who were all consistent pro-bowlers on the left side. Once we got rid of Goff (who was solid before), we drafted Vasquez and added Forney to fill the void. We've had far to many issues since the 07 draft to spend a high draft pick on a RT.

I officially want Roby for this draft. He's a beastly CB.

Any chance you guys think we draft a CB in the first? Even with a new line I continue to doubt if Rivers could become a top tier QB again, and if Gaither is as lazy or injury prone as he has been this year, then it may take more than 1 pick to repair our offensive live, while I feel that our defense could really be a top defense in the league if our secondary improved.
Of course the talent at CB would also come into play in this decision and I don't know much about college players |

I agree we need a LT but don't reach for one. If AJ would have drafted BPA the last 5 drafts this team would have won Super Bowls. Drafting BPA at a position of need gives us this kind of roster.
AJ needs to go now. |

That's such a hindsight driven view it is hilarious. Please tell me your unbiased BPAs, not hindsight fueled and use proof from the past that proves what you are saying. Otherwise, don't say anything.
