Undoubtedly. It's not uncommon for a candidate to "listen" to an offer in order to move up and turn it down though because the offer does not jive with his own thoughts and agenda of becoming a GM. It could be he's in a sweeter position where he's at rather than take a half a bone being offered with the "title" of GM, rather than having the ability to put his mark on a team. Actually, stuff like this happens every year, and the same with HC candidates. I know the Giants gave Ross a big fat raise last year not to leave. How much, I don't know. Does he already make more money in his current position than the Chargers are willing to pay their GM? We don't know that either. Some things we as fans do know, but just as you suggest, there's lots we don't know.

Looks as if the rumors about Gamble not impressing MAY have been true

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer
Jets have asked for and received permission to interview Dolphins assistant GM Brian Gaine for their GM spot. Interview expected this week.

How 'bout if you're in San Diego when the team is getting ready to announce their new GM?

On the day the Chargers are expected to name their new GM, Colts VP of football operations Tom Telesco is back in San Diego.

Perhaps Gamble was bullish on hiring the Niners' DL coach as has been rumored. Owners probably don't like the idea of hiring a GM who has one candidate for HC with no room for negotiation.

Yep, could be true

Damn I wish teams would come out and tell us why they didn't hire a certain candidate. I know it is never going to happen but it would be nice to know

Maybe he was too defensive about some of the mistakes that were made over there: Jacobs, their current draft being inactive most the year, Braylon etc.

We'll never know most likely.

I hope were not hiring a GM based on him doing things, the Charger way. As we have all seen, the Charger way is not working.
