Your point about the timing on the hires is well taken. Nonetheless, I still would have gone with an in-house interim guy as of last Monday.
As far as the offense goes, I believe that PR can be effective for a few more years, with a retooling of personnel and 'scheming', not to mention motivation. It's pretty amazing what a fine line there is between outstanding and bad in the NFL.
With this defense, all the offense has to do is be slightly above average and importantly, not screw up.
