What a spin with this goodbye! He should be praised because he is doing it for the kids? Please. He can handle himself - so everyone should be thankful he restrained himself. Please.

Fireman Ed may be a big fan, but he is about one thing - himself. While he may have been a fan during the Rich Kotite era and even went to games, he wasn't on tv then. He wasn't Fireman Ed the mascot. Now that that Jets embarrassing play is reaching new levels, he'd be shown along with that embarrassment. He couldn't let that happen.

Yeah, he did it for the kids. And thanks for not starting fights. We know you can hold your own.

This is what I thought. In an effort to quit while not throwing the team or the coach under the bus (in case they turn it around) he blames the fans behavior on why he is quitting.
