All of you guys that are talking about how Gruden didn't win enough in Tampa are fully aware that the team was something like 20/25 million under the cap when he left right?

The owner had completely cut the purse strings at that time because he was having some issues outside of football if I remember correctly.

You do realize that he took over a SUPERB defense that dungy built through the draft correct? Did I say superb? Maybe super duper fantastic. Amazing. Top notch.

Gruden's record in Tampa after the Superbowl was sub-.500, but he did manage to build a contender in Oakland despite having Al Davis as the owner. If not for the tuck rule (which I was admittedly happy about at the time) he likely would have taken them to the SB. While Gruden took Dungy's Bucs to the SB, Bill freaking Callahan took Gruden's Raiders to the SB. I don't really want Gruden to be the next Chargers coach, but I have to give him credit where it's due.

On which head coaching candidate previously knocked his socks off and he was too foolish to not hire:

Ron Wolf: “At that time it was Andy Reid.”

Might have dodged a bullet there.

I know I have my own opinion of who should be the GM & HC, but if they pick someone I don't endorse, I wouldn't be too upset. Ron Wolf has a ton of experience in the league, a track record of success, has done his research, will be in the interview room with the candidates & will recommend the best candidates to Dean. I believe Mr. Spanos has a very high regard for Ron Wolf & will take his advice with serious consideration.
