Default Is Philip Rivers a Hall of Famer?

The guys from Inside the NFL talking about whether or not they think Philip Rivers should be a Hall of Famer. Good discussion here.

Rivers is not elite and is not a HOF type QB.

Well, there's quite a logjam at QB now in this pass-happy era. I believe he's not going in on the first ballot but maybe later mirroring Dan Fouts' path. Then again, Dan Fouts, together with his numbers, did set a few passing records during his playing days.

When you are one of eight to ten people on the planet who can do what Rivers can do, that makes him elite. 300 career TDs and he's not elite

That's kind of what I'm thinking.

Best QB of your generation? Nope.

Best QB in the league for a couple of years? Nope.

Best QB in your draft class? Nope.

A couple of SB exploits? Nuh uh.

Consistent playoff wins? Still no.

He just doesn't check the box for any of the usual markers . . .

HOF, I would say no but saying he's not elite is laughable.
