So you treat him fair, just like you treat the team fair. TT just needs to offer a fair deal, if Slauson, or any other player (MI) wants to be greedy, you say goodbye.

Slauson is older than those guys and plays a position that isn't as high up there in terms of $$$. Also unlike those other guys, we seem to have good-decent options in younger guys behind him. I doubt we'll be giving him a big extension of any kind.

Slauson is a journeyman, but saying that, I don't want to discount how he played for the Bolts last year, when everyone around him was lacking. He brought what he had to give every game, and gave it. That toughmindedness of his will be a good example for the young guns beside him, Lamp and Feeney. They're talented, and have good discipline of their own, but his blue collar work ethic will set a good example for them to follow. If he can be re-signed at a fair price at the end of next year, I would have no problem at all with Slauson being here for a few more years. He doesn't have to be all pro. Most players aren't . He just needs to keep doing what he's doing, until someone legitimately beats him out for his spot, fair and square.

Slauson might actually want to play on a team where he can win and where he's wanted as long as the pay is fair. If other teams want to double his salary and the chargers don't budge then I would not begrudge that player for moving on.

Considering all the O-line issues and ESPECIALLY issues at center we've had, and considering that Slauson came in at a team-friendly contract and really brought stability to the position, and considering that Slauson and Rivers have had pretty decent chemistry, something that can't be taught, I certainly hope the Bolts make some kind of a decent extension offer. A lot depends on how the rooks perform in TC. If Tuerk, Burwell, Lamp or someone else can get the center job done in TC and preseason, less pressure to extend Slauson. If Slauson still is the best option after TC and preseason games, more urgency to extend Slauson with a decent deal.
