Matt Leinert?

Up north, in the shadow of the 49ers Colin Kapernick - Alex Smith controversy, another QB controversy is quietly starting to brew across the bay. The Raiders know what they have in Carson Palmer, but do not know what they have in last year's supplemental draft pick Terrell Pryor. This QB out of Ohio State is similar to Kapernick in that he's got a strong arm and can get yards with his feet.

Some of my Raider fan friends from college think he's another Kapernick (probably wishful thinking) and want to see him get some playing time in what is a lost season for the Raiders. Apparently the GM, Reggie McKenzie agrees. He said in a press conference today that Pryor should get some playing time in the remaining games.

This leaves the current #2 QB, Matt Leinert, squeezed out. Odds are, if Pryor looks promising, the Raiders will release Leinert and go into 2013 with Palmer and Pryor.

I say we grab him. He'd come cheap, and he's an experienced backup that might push Philip. Right now, PR has no one looking over his shoulder. And despite Leinert's sub par performance in the NFL so far, he's got upside. He's matured, and with good coaching and a system that plays to his strengths, he could be a surprise Cinderella story next year. Plus, if the team is playing at the LA Coliseum or Rose Bowl next year, he'll draw SC fans to Charger home games.

You are trippin. I tell Raider fans all the time, that they are going to complete the set. All three qb's from USC on the roster.

I'd take any young qb from the college ranks before I bring him to San Diego.

No thanks. The Cards gave him ample opportunity to be a success. And he failed miserably. Let him stay as a faider.

Leinart is barely a threat to unseat Whitehurst. Unless your getting a top 10-12 QB, you aren't pushing Rivers anywhere.
