Bring Back The Replacement Refs -- It's Not Just Us Who Are Getting Bad Calls

Did anyone happen to watch the Colts/Jags tonight.

That might be the worst officiating I've ever seen in a football game -- at any level.

But I get it, Andrew Luck is now supposed to win.

MAN WAS THAT GAME HARD TO WATCH.

And no, I could give two cents about the Jaguars. But as a football fan, it was ridiculous, and undermines (again) my faith in this league.

I missed some of it(mercifully) when friends visited.
On Luck's INT negated by the contact to his head, I think it had to be called.
On Luck's 1 foot TD push, it did look as if the ball had crossed the plane...and the side judge had ruled it a TD.
On his slide in quarter 4, Landy's shoulder pad did impact Luck's head.
On Laurent Robinson's fumble, the ball was coming out before Robinson's knee landed.
The one Jaguar catch, deep down the left sideline, and challenged and ruled a non-catch, I would have let stand as a catch.
What did I leave out?

The post and chop that wasn't a post and chop.

Those were the only two I saw while flipping back and forth between the game and Predator on AMC.

I'm not sure what a post and chop is, but may have been in the kitchen chopping beef for that one.
I missed the false false start, which sounds like a true start.
And our game against Denver on 15 October featured an illegal procedure call against Rivers for a 'head bob', which didn't seem much after seeing Peyton Manning bobbing his head for 13 years as a Colt.

Also the hit to the head that was a shoulder to shoulder hit -- no head involved. And against a QB who was "sliding" way too late for a defender NOT to be taking a shot at him already.

And the QB sneak where it was crystal clear that he was fumbling around with the ball behind his back, while the most forward part of his body, his helmet, barely notched the goal line, meaning the ball was at least 2 feet behind.

There were a couple of others, too, but frankly, I can't remember them because it was so hard to watch I quit counting -- and, most importantly, quit caring.

I firmly believe the NFL wants to set up a Manning/Manning Superbowl along with a Manning/Luck playoff game.

We will see at season's end.

1. there's a lesson for our defenders:
if a QB slides, late or not, don't take a shot at him. As Mayock said, Luck was sliding, and Landry's shoulder pad impacted Luck's faceguard.
Further, Landry apologized to Luck.
2. from the sideline angle, for a fraction of a second, the football appeared to penetrate the plane of the goal line. The side judge had the best view, and he signaled touchdown. The review officials certainly didn't have overwhelming or underwhelming evidence to overturn the side judge's decision.
