The YPC were poor, but the run game kept Seattle off balance and our offense on the field.

We most definitely did not win the Seattle game by throwing down field. It was the short passing game and PR in the red zone that killed Seattle plus we never gave up on the ground game.

Now lets look at the facts.
We have gone over 100 yards in 5 games. We are 5-0 in those games.
In games where we did not run for 100 yards we are 2-4. The two wins came against Buffalo and Jacksonville. In the Jacksonville game we did not have to run. Against Buffalo their offense was doing nothing and we played it safe, killed off the game.

As for the argument that we ran because we were ahead is just not true. Let look at the games.

Raiders 1st game was a back and forth affair. The game was up for grabs until the very end. Verrett saved the day. We rushed for 116 yards. Like the Seattle game the YPC was not good. But the run game played a part in the win.

2nd Raider game was a defensive affair. The ground game again played it's part. We were never in control of the game. Can't say we ran because we were ahead.

The Jets game did not matter because we ran and passed at will and the Jets did nothing.

The Rams game we just saw the run game played a huge part. We got behind in that game and we certainly did not run because we were ahead.

If we do not establish some kind of run game our offense will struggle as it did against Miami, Denver, KC and Arizona. All losses.

It is not a good idea to put the game on PR's shoulders when our O line is struggling. We've seen what happens when we have. Three straight losses.
Or, at a different point in the season, three straight wins. So I guess we'll see.

This is going to be a tough game for our Bolts. But, I do expect the team to play hard & disciplined.
A win? Maybe. I won't be surprised if they do win it. Last weeks win can carry momentum.
I'll be routing my tail off for them Sun!!!

Default Throw on the Ravens

I usually tout the run the ball, ball control, time of possession game that Mike McCoy usually uses to manage a game. But against the Ravens, I'd like to see some passing on the their defensive backs. That is where they are weak, defensively.

But how do you do that? Run, to pass. Use quick slants to move the chains, and then test their safeties deep. Rinse and repeat. Their safeties are their achilles heal. Their front seven obviously is not. Accept the fact that the run game may not rack up big yards on the Ravens front 7, but still commit to the run, to set up the passing game on their weak defensive backs.

Conversely, I think the Ravens will test Wright and Gilchrist over and over again, if we can't get to Flacco with our defensive front 7. I'm not as worried about Wrights' play at corner, as much as I am about Gilchrists play at safety, despite that game saving pick at the end of the Rams game. Even the ugliest dog finds a bone, sometimes.

More gold from Ravens fans

Quote:
1. There's very little to fear from the Chargers pass rush. Not really something I'd be concerned about.

2. I think by the end of the season, we fans will be laughing at the notion that the Chargers were ever a "legit contender".

Their words anger me. They should show the first post to Attaochu and Ingram.

Addae should be back by this game. Do not want to see Gilly at safety. Heck I don't even want to see him on the field. LOL

Will the elephant travel with the team to Baltimore?

I thought for sure the Rams were going to take us to the woodshed.
I'm just worried that it is on the east coast in the early timeslot.
