Default After 1 month of studying, I now know why we did good in

I have figured it out! People will cry, women will faint, and men will.... (something... you think it up). It is that dang Charger helmet in the middle of the field as the logo. In all of 2003 we had the helmet and lost.... in all of 2004, we didn't have the helmet at all untill the playoff game, then we played like we were the 2003 Chargers! Curse the Helmet to hell!!! It's a jinx! I hope this year we don't use the helmet at all. I also like the SD/Bolt logo again.

Hmmmm, I'd call it settling for a field goal being the reason we lost but I guess your point works in a very round-about way.

We can't lay it all on Kaeding... the team as a whole did not play well.

you may have a point. in 2002 we had the bolts in the middle until the jets game where we got blown away. also the helmet had the #37 on it because rodney was suspended for the game.

I need to make a post and get everyone to type /sign on it. It will be to send to the Chargers a pention to ban the helmet logo on the field... I usually don't believe in jinxs or curses, but this is just too hard!!

I'd call it the offense not scoring more than 7 points until the 4th quarter and the defense not getting any turn overs or getting many 3 and outs. Settling for a FG or missing it didn't lose the game, being out played is what cost us. For a team to average over 30 points at home and then go into a play off game and only score 10 points before a bone headed play by a jets receiver gave us a chance to score a tying TD is what cost us. No it wasn't play calling or anything else, it was execution in all phases of the game and it was a team loss, people need to get over that kick, could it have won the game? yes! did it lose the game? no that was done by the offense not scoring enough to get it done in regulation and by the defense not disrupting the jets offense enough to keep their score below ours.

Think ya misread what I wrote. I didn't blame the loss on Kaeding. I did think the playcalling was nonsense in OT, having driven down the entire length of the field at ease and plunging it up the middle three times. The Chargers played like crap and sure, when Kaeding missed the kick, the Jets still had to drive the field. They did.

I am 100% confident the Chargers would have scored a TD or at least put the ball inside the 15 or so and give Kaeding a true chip shot. He was a stud all season, but I didn't want a playoff game to come down to a 41 yard field goal by a rookie kicker on a muddy field.

I was fine with the play calling in the OT and as you saw in my post I didn't say you blamed it on the kicker, I said that neither settling for the kick or missing it cost us the game, the team playing badly did. 99% of the time a kicker would make a kick like that when it's within his range, he was making them just fine during warm ups, we've all already argued to death about what could have happened if they had taken some shots (INT's, holding penalty, sack the QB for a loss or even fumble) and Marty did what 99% of the coaches would have done in that situation, things just didn't work out.

The team said the 37 was in honor of Hank Bauer, but we all know it was for Rodney.
